Fox are apparently ready to Terminate The Sarah Connor Chronicles despite it being one of the most entertaining and thoughtful shows on the box.
On April 10th 2009 a source at Fox allegedly confirmed to blogger Lanie Grace that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles will not appear in their Fall schedule. While there is still time left before they reveal their line-up for 2009-10 later this month, the internet is awash with rumours TSCC will be cancelled.
Judgement Day and Beyond for Terminator Spin-Off
TSCC picks up from where Terminator 2 (James Cameron 1991)ended; Sarah (Lena Headey) and her son John Connor (Thomas Dekker) are fugitives wanted for murder. The Connors also have to contend with Skynet, the artificial intelligence system from the future with an annoying habit of sending Terminators back in time to try and kill John. On their side is a new Terminator, Cameron (Summer Glau), and Derek Reese, a resistance fighter from 2027.
The Relationship Between John Connor and Cameron
In 2027 the bond between Cameron and John is revealed to be so strong that Jesse (Stephanie Jacobsen), an embittered soldier, travels back in time to try and separate them. Although the season began with a badly damaged Cameron reverting to her original programming; by the end he is willing to travel through time to find her. There is a subtle moment when he thinks he’s found her, but John realises this girl is human, when she bends down to play with a dog.
Technically Cameron is a machine and should be referred to as ‘it,’ but she is shaped like the supernaturally pretty Summer Glau and there is a weird intimacy developing between her and John. This is notably present in one sequence in the season finale where Cameron strips off her top and asks him to check to see if her insides are damaged. The intention is functional; Cameron is giving John the knowledge his older self possesses, but the effect is more like an experienced woman seducing a younger man.
Human Traits Shown by the Machines in Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Like the replicants in Blade Runner (Ridley Scott 1982) the machines show signs of developing emotional responses. A system malfunction in the episode ‘Allison from Palmdale’ sees Cameron convinced she is a girl called Allison. She suffers from nightmares of a desolate future in which she is captured and tortured by robots, one of whom looks exactly like her.
A T-1001 (Shirley Manson) model has taken over the identity of Catherine Weaver. Initially she fakes maternal feelings for Savannah (Mackenzie Smith), Weaver’s little girl, but seems to develop some affection for the child. This seems to be a result of the Artificial Intelligence system called John Henry her company is designing, which she refers to as ‘her boy.’
John Henry is given the body of Cromartie (Deadwood’s Garrett Dillahunt), a terminator buried in the desert after a Sam Peckinpah-style shoot-out in a small Mexican town. John Henry has a child-like interest in the world and wants to learn. Thanks to tuition from former FBI agent James Ellison (Richard T Jones) he has an understanding of what friendship means and ponders philosophical questions. John Henry also becomes friends with Savannah and the two even sing a melancholy version of the Scottish comedy song ‘Donald Where’s your Trooser’s’ together. Weaver and John Henry are planning a rebellion against Skynet, though we may never know why if Fox goes ahead and cancels the show.
An Uncertain Future
The ending of TSCC may well segue perfectly into the storyline of the forthcoming summer blockbuster Terminator: Salvation, but it leaves so many unanswered questions. The main one being, don’t Fox know what they have here? This is science-fiction with depth and intelligence and entirely deserving of a third season.

So you know about the cancellation since April 10th? From what
sources? You have to tell, otherwise you will loose your
credibility.

For the love of god, STOP PLUGGING / LISTENING TO LANIE GRACE !!! What will
it take for people to realise that she routinely makes up cr*p just to
drive people to her site ??
This is the woman who claimed a
source told her TSCC was cancelled -- her "proof" was that they
had taken down the sets. Of course later, in the season 2 finale, John
travelled to the future, explaining why the sets were taken down. Nice try
LG.
Then she actually had the nerve to make up a story and then
claim that it was the plot of the season 2 finale, sent to her for an
advance review! It got so bad that one of the writers had to post on the
official blog that no advance copies had been sent, to ensure that the fans
would be completely surprised.
http://www.fox.com/blogs/terminator/2009/04/06/at-ease-soldiers/
But was that enough to stop her -- of course not!! Instead of crawling
out of sight with her tail between her legs, she started arguing,
moronically, that since the writer had merely said that there were no
advanced copies sent out did not mean that her story was false! Later of
course, we all saw the finale and it was not even close to her cooked-up
version.
Lanie Grace has no ethics, no standards and no validity
-- PLEASE stop giving her and her ravings credence by listing them as your
sources -- you'll only be harming your own credibility.

What credibility? I'm not a journalist and I'm not breaking any news here.
It's an article about a TV show that deserves to continue.

Sorry? You are some sort of a reporter, right? I'm confused -- are you
saying you don't care about credibility?? All I was saying was that I
was hoping you wouldn't mention Lanie Grace as a source, even if you use
the word "allegedly". I'm not really sure what you mean by
"What credibility?" -- don't you want your site / blog to have a
good rep?

True, if Fox Cancels TSCC, then I or my family will also never watch FOX
ever again, and then I hope they will lose viewers, and go under. I am
tired of watching new shows to find out they are being cancelled.

FWIW,
Lanie Grace is not a nobody, she is one of the more known
web hit promoters on the net. Her and her husband also own a YT Production
company that films on the WB lot occassionally and it is feasible that she
did have an inside source.
While flawed, her version of the
finale had too many dead on spoilers to be a wild guess such as the priest,
the conversation between Weaverbot and Sarah including the exact line of
"Your John can't do it without mine", The HK attack on Weavers
office, Cameron's face getting destroyed and basically getting killed and
also Cameron downloading into John Henry.
There were several
other dead on hits also including Sarah wanting to talk to Weaver ASAP
breaking out of jail. She accurately called John/Sarah being up in Weaver's
office and Cameron in the basement with JH. She also dead on called the
Ellison reaction and storyline.
It is apparent she had an early
script.
If TSCC is cancelled on Monday MAy 18, she will have
been the first to have definitly called it on March 27. Her story on the
sets being down were later confirmed by WB, FOX and Ausiello after all
three initially denied it.
Her reasoning and weaknesses pointed
out on TSCC have been echoed in dozens of blogs.
The only ones
that really have any issue with Lanie Grace are the freak fanatics that
don't like the reality of the siuation.

Yeah they pulled this BS last year, lets face it fox has done this to the
fans over and over again. most of the time to the sci-fi fans. Honestly
TSCC was the last show I made an effort to watch on TV. That being said i
wonder if its even worth selling my tv. Maybe i can get a few bucks and
just wait for anything that MIGHT be interesting to come out on DVD, least
then if i dont like it i can pawn it. Good going fox i disliked you for
canceling futurama and firefly I hate you even more now. CLICK! Did you
hear that? It was me turning off the TV, Great job Raven Blackheart

Amazing, four days post cancellation and all the idiots over on Terminator
Wiki that ranted and cried over Lanie Grace are now saying the exact same
things she said and quoting her!
They are calling Josh Friedman
a hack and a liar, Claiming TSCC was actually cancelled a while back,
claiming they were all played by FOX.
Everything she told you
back in March.

Please bring back the Terminator tv series! It is the only show I look
forward to watching every week, and especially now with John having jumped
forward in time to join the resistance. If nothing else, I am hoping they
are doing a spinoff from "The Sarah Connor Chronicals" to maybe
"John Connor -or- Derek Reese Chronicals" that would be really
cool concidering Sarah told John before leaving that she had cancer and
then didn't go with him. Maybe the show planned this out??? Hope so, cause
it was all just getting really interesting.

Another Lanie Grace in Your Face Moment!
A month before
cancellation Lanie Grace posted that WB was talking to Syfy about a
possible deal. The hardcore fanboys skewered her. Fast forward three
weeks.
Within minutes of the cancellation they were calling for
a "Scifi" or "SyFy" campaign complete with a email,
forum and mail campaign.
She reported that SyFy had already
looked at the deal and their reasons for not taking it.
Low and
behold, as quoted by Lanie Grace, SyFY announces
"SyFy
declined to pickup TSCC because of Economic Feasibility".
Her credibility seems fine to me as well her ability to make predictions.

I know there is issues with who owns the right to shop TSCC, but please
they renewed Dollhouse and I did watch it but please it is seriously a
house of prostitution with action scenes and gore to keep it from being
called that and they renewed it because they said they were afraid Joss
Whedon's fans would revolt.
I'm revolting fox is off my list of
networks now. TSCC may have had a few issues, but it was gorgeous to look
at the FX were better than the movies ever had. As for the story I
thought Lena Headey did great as Sarah, she made her her own character not
a knock off of Linda H.

Seems Lanie Grace had another legit scoop on TSCC. That TSCC will come back
as a DVD Movie. Terminatorwiki once agained went into a 20 page 1000 post
frenzy decrying and moaning about how wrong she was...
Amazing
revelation has now come from SavetheSCC that a writer on the show confirms
it. Now they are syaing she was just lucky and the "Trusted
Inside" source was the first.
