Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is the perfect blend of action and drama, bringing viewers a deep and engrossing story that breathes new life into the series.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is one of the best TV shows to have come on the air in the past decade. The series could very easily have become a lame attempt to cash in on the upcoming film trilogy starting with Terminator Salvation, but instead it delivered a rich and exhilarating experience never before seen on television. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is Rich in CharacterizationLena Headey is perfect as Sarah Connor, the overly protective single mother who will stop at nothing to ensure her son becomes the future leader of the resistance against the Terminator threat. Throughout the series she has been developed as a loving mother, while still being a strong and able bodied woman who is extremely capable of taking care of herself and her son. John Connor’s growth from a struggling teen wanting to live a normal life to the future resistance leader was handled beautifully and believably by Thomas Dekker. From the passing of his girlfriend to his confrontation with Jesse Flores, his maturity is developed flawlessly. Summer Glau, as the hot female terminator sent back in time to protect John Connor, stole the show. Her ability to portray herself as a robotic killer, trying to suppress her instincts and learn true emotion was nothing short of amazing. This show loves to boast strong women, and Summer Glau as Cameron is no exception. Other notable characters include Derek Reese, played by Brian Austin Green who really rose from the dust after much criticism about his early roles on 90210. His death was one of the most shocking reveals of the season, especially in the way it was portrayed. James Ellison, the strong ex-Federal agent who is trying to find answers by working with a Terminator. Catherine Weaver, played by ex-Garbage singer Shirley Manson, who is a Model T-1001 Terminator trying to fight alongside humans in order to unite both sides. Terminator’s stellar cast was instrumental in creating such an amazing television experience. Terminator Series Redeemed by a Mind-Blowing ScriptAfter the awful mess know as T-3: Rise of the Machines, the television show was a redeeming grace to the series, perfectly setting up the story for the upcoming films. Every episode was top-notch, and the season was littered with new reveals and hidden surprises. One of the most exciting things about the new season was the depictions of the future, which revealed a little into the state of the war and gave greater insight into the depth of the characters. The time travelling ability of the characters also led to some interesting story arcs and as well as a brilliant finale that will have viewers praying for Fox to renew the show for another season. Concluding Thoughts on Season 2 of Terminator: The Sarah Connor ChroniclesThe greatest aspect of the television series was the creativity and design of each new episode. The cast and crew went above and beyond in there delivery of what is essentially the simple story of a young boy preparing to become a rebel leader. What could have been a lame ‘Terminator of the Week’ action show became a deeply involving drama through well-written characters, a believable premise and the perfect blend of action and drama. Update 5/20: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is officially cancelled.
