Life After Roswell - The Grudge Actor Jason BehrSheri Appleby & Katherine Heigl also starred in 1999's RoswellOct 19, 2009 Caroline Barnard-Smith
Ten years have passed since teenage-alien drama, Roswell ended, so what have the cast been up to?
Running for only three seasons between 1999 and 2002, Roswell was the Dawson’s Creek of the sci-fi world. It followed the lives and loves of teenage aliens Max, Isabel and Michael as they attempted to decipher their extra-terrestrial heritage and get their homework in on time. Liz Parker – Played by Shiri ApplebyThe irrepressibly chirpy Liz was the object of Max’s affections – and eventual child bride. A nerdy scientist at heart, she began to exhibit alien powers over the course of the show after Max used his own powers to save her life. Shiri Appleby, 30, was already a veteran actress before she came to the role of Liz Parker, having appeared in numerous television shows including Baywatch, Xena: Warrior Princess and Beverly Hills, 90210. Post-Roswell, Shiri continued to work in television, most notably as Daria Wade in the final season of ER. She also appeared in the 2008 movie Charlie Wilson's War, starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. Shiri is now set to move away from the adolescent roles of her past when her new show, Life UneXpected premieres in 2010. She plays Cate Cassidy, a local radio star with an estranged daughter. Max Evans – Played by Jason BehrQuiet, sensitive Max was the leader of his alien crew and spent his days attempting to steer them away from danger while mooning over Liz Parker. Quite the multi-tasking balancing act. Jason Behr, 38, took the arty highroad after the demise of Roswell and appeared in a succession of independent films, including Happily, Even After; Man of God and Shooting Livien. A variety of higher-profile movies followed, including 2004’s The Grudge. It was while shooting in Japan that Jason met his future wife, actress KaDee Strickland. After starring as evil werewolf Varek in 2006’s Skinwalkers, Jason went on to take the lead role in The Tattooist, shot on location in New Zealand. He was given a Samoan Chiefly Title for his participation in the movie and has since said that he’d one day like to retire to the country. Jason returned to independent film in 2007 with a starring role in The Last International Playboy. It debuted at the Gen Art film festival in New York City in April 2008, and was released across the USA in June 2009. Jason continues to take on a multitude of film projects. His latest role is that of Lt. Stephen Brooks in Pinkville, scheduled to be released in 2011. Isabel Evans – Played by Katherine HeiglIsabel was Max’s freakishly tall, impossibly glossy-haired sister and on-off girlfriend of the ill-fated Alex Whitman. Finally settling down and marrying Jesse Ramirez in season three, she eventually left him to take off for the open road with the rest of the gang. Although Katherine Heigl, 30, has perhaps had the most successful post-Roswell career, things didn’t look so good for her in the beginning. Starring in a succession of made-for-TV movies, including Hallmark’s Love Comes Softly and Romy and Michele: In the Beginning; it wasn’t until she landed the breakthrough role of medical intern Dr. Isobel Stevens on Grey's Anatomy in 2005 that Hollywood began to sit up and take notice. Leading movie roles quickly followed, most notably Knocked Up and 27 Dresses. Future projects include the thriller Five Killers, also starring Ashton Kutcher; and Life As We Know It, directed by Everwood creator Greg Berlanti. Things have also been looking rosy in Katherine’s personal life. She married singer Josh Kelley in 2007 and the couple recently announced the arrival of an adopted baby daughter from Korea.
